The Mini Challenge John Cooper Works Championship is a thrilling racing series that up until the end of the 2019 season had always run under the 'Mini Challenge' banner, an independent one-make Mini only championship. However, due to its fast, fair, competitive and exciting racing attracting grids of over 30 cars the Mini Challenge JCW Championship had by the end of the 2019 season outgrown its independent pedigree and was ready for the step up to elite sporting status. At the start of 2020, the Mini Challenge JCW Championship became the premier support race for the British Touring Car Championship taking the slot of the heavily under-subscribed Renault Clio Cup Series.

The Mini Challenge JCW championship in 2021 will run at 7 of the 10 BTCC rounds throughout the year; each race weekend will consist of 3 races, testing sessions and qualifying. Because the Mini Challenge JCW Championship is a part of the TOCA family (the BTCC's governing body), it will benefit from the same marketing assets as the BTCC; just at a considerably reduced price. Spectators of over 40,000 present at race weekends (dependent on current government guidelines), two races aired on the ITV2 / 4 BTCC television coverage with an estimated 1.9 million viewers, numerous print articles in relevant motorsport publications, radio coverage and regular social media posting with ample engagement.
